Original U.S. Canteen Cover in Excellent Unissued condition. This model held the standard plastic or metal canteen and used plastic snaps on the flaps. Issued in 1968/1969, these were part of the effort to make rugged lightweight MLCE/ LC1 & LC2 gear that would soon eclipse the use of canvas load bearing gear from the Model 1956 Load Carrying Equipment which was already the primary field equipment in Vietnam . These are very scarce on the market today, especially in unissued condition.
