    Para Ordnance P-10, 10-round magazine

Posted by John Youngs on Apr 16th 2021

I'd like to "re-review" my earlier comments from several months ago regarding their Para Ordnance P-10 ("Warthog"), 10-round magazines and why they wee mfgr'd a little bit longer than the original Canadian-produced ones were - SARCO employees themselves did not know (at least the ones I talked to) why their (I believe these are actually Mec-Gar produced magazines) Para Ordnance P-10 ("Warthog"), 10-round magazines had been produced with a slightly (approx. 1/8th of an inch, maybe a tiny bit longer) longer magazine body. Nobody seemed to know why. Well, I finally found out - it seems that a number of folks who were "into" various IPSC shooting contests and wanted to be able to insert a "Mag-Well" into the bottom of their pistol's grip - to make the magazine "hole" easier to hit on the run and make for a faster reload. I had always understood that these add-on devices were used mainly on full-sized pistols, but apparently, there either are - or were - a number of folks who wanted to use these little 10-round magazines in their P-10 Warthog pistols in the same manner. Apparently, the original (Canadian) factory magazines cannot be inserted all the way to where they will lock into place if that "Mag-Well" device is being used; as such, it's thickness near the grip's hole is such that it takes up some of the room necessary for the original factory mags to lock into place. All that never occurred to me, as I've never "competed" in those types of shooting games in the past. Well, "Ya learn something new all the time", as they say...!! Anyway, having now used these magazines for several range shooting sessions now, I can honestly say that I really like these newer style mags - they still are coming with Para's "logo" bottoms (base pads) on them - a nice touch. They all seem to work quite well - hence, the "uprated" 5-star rating...!!
