JAPANESE MODEL 99 ARMORED SHIELD
Japanese WW2 issued steel shield as fielded in 1939 for Machine Gunners and also used by Arisaka riflemen in defensive positions. Seen throughout the Pacific campaign and in China/Manchuria. Several versions were developed, and these were primarily used by Type 96 and Type 99 machine gunners, but riflemen also used them as was seen extensively throughout Guadalcanal. Shield has a carrying handle and adjustable stability brace. Very few have made it back to the U.S. after the war, but Sarco has had the shield reproduced from an original. A smart design and finally available for military collectors! With some Kevlar laminates applied, this shield could make an excellent personal combat shield for today’s combat operations. Sold as a collectible.
