Functional, but somewhat rough.
Box has an Indian/ Chinese feel about it, the hinge is functional but the way the screw holes are drilled leaves only the bottom half holding.
Both sides of the latch are brazed of multiple pieces and kinda rough with the lid portion “riveted” on with what might be nails and the box side attached with stripped Phillips screws.
The handle is well made and securely attached, though riveted leather unlike the stitched originals.
Overall it’s rough but very useable, and while I’ve disassembled it to replace the screws with period correct ones and rebuild a few bits it’s not required unless you are a perfectionist. -
Well made reproduction
Comparing my original to this one is close. I changed out screws to straight slot vs phillips screws plus stitched leather handle to be more like my original. Overall a very well made pine reproduction. Hardware is excellent. A great value!

1917 ammo box
I purchased 4 if these boxes and I am very happy with them. Very well made. Only thing is that it requires some modification for it to fit the 1917A1 cradle. Job well done and still worth the money. The hinge is a perfect copy.
