Original Belgian military 'Puttees' (Pair), copied from the British style of WW2. Extremely well made in rich thick wool, 4 inches wide and over 52" long with an additional 29" long, 3/4" binding strap. Most were made in Belgium in the 1960s, and are in new surplus, unissued condition. The Puttee was a binding that was applied from the ankle / boot, and spirally bound upward around the calf to add support to the arduous leg work of a soldier and likewise kept dirt and gravel from getting into footwear as well as securing the pant hems. Eventually eclipsed in use by the mid-calf combat boot.
