U.S. Marked Colt Detective Special Double Action Revolver. Revolver is used in great condition. Shows slight finish wear by muzzle. Frame and cylinder have very minor finish wear. Backstrap has finish wear but US markings are still visible. Grips are slightly worn towards bottom but still have plenty of checkering along with silver Colt medallions. Barrels is 2" and has bright shiny bore. Manufactured in 1970. Six-shot cylinder, "U.S." marked backstrap, and "P" inspection marks above the trigger guard bows on the left of the frame. Frame and side plate may have some dings and scratches from storage. See pictures for more information.
Colt Detective Special with a "U.S." marked backstrap is a model manufactured for the United States government, most notably during the Vietnam War era around 1970. These revolvers were produced for the military, particularly the Army, with some being shipped to military depots like Letterkenny Army Depot in Pennsylvania. They are distinguished by government inspection marks, such as "U.S." on the backstrap and often a "P" proof mark on the trigger guard.
