U.S. M2A4 'bounding mine', AKA 'Bouncing Betty, was inspired by the German use of 'S' mines in WW2. Our answer to that was the M2 series of bounding mines which when activated, propelled a charge upwards where it would explode in the air , about waist high creating a horrific deterrent for advancing enemy infantry. These M2 mines continued in use though WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. Once the fuse was activated, a black powder booster would fire upwards a TNT filled canister with shrapnel at a height of @1-2 meters. Our replica mine is steel, inert, marked, and has a removeable cover and dummy fuse. Full size and as realistic as it gets for an inert landmine.
