Japanese Type 2 Paratrooper Takedown Rifle Type 99
The Japanese Type 2 paratrooper rifle was a takedown version of the Type 99 Arisaka rifle, designed for paratroopers to carry in two halves for compact storage. It was chambered in 7.7×58mm, produced by the Nagoya Arsenal from 1943 to 1945, and was Japan's attempt to create a paratrooper rifle inspired by German designs. The rifle broke down into the stock/receiver and the barrel/handguard sections, held together by a screw-in wedge lock mechanism for rapid reassembly in the field.
