The standard guard screw only goes up part way in an A3 receiver. This screw fills the hole to make your rifle more attractive. Have had these for 20 years.

Too long
The screw is too long to be a “drop in or direction replacement” rear action screw. It sticks up proud and will not allow the bolt to function. It’s about .20-.25 inches to long.

Extra long rear guard screw
Screw is too long - sticks above top of threads and interferes with bolt. Should be about 3/16" shorter. I have a 100% original 1943 Remington 1903A3
