An
intriguing invention
SOLD! |
| The
Krummerlauf or "bent barrel". What is it exactly? Well, it's a bent barrel with a periscope sighting device for shooting around corners... that's right... shooting around corners. The idea of a bent barrel existed in several variants: an "I" version for infantry use, a "P" version for use in tanks (to cover infantry), versions with 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°, and a version for the STGW44 and one for the MG42. Only the 30° "I" version for the STGW44 was produced in any numbers. The first successful weapon was the German Krummerlauf, which was attached to either the MP44/STG44 assault rifle or the MG42 machine gun. The sighting device on this one is not present. |
